The Barn Gallery Call for Art: Contemporary Glass Art

Description

The Barn Gallery’s Summer 2026 exhibition will feature contemporary work by Artists that use glass as a material in their art work. Hot, warm, and cold glass media artists including, but not limited to, blown glass, cast glass, sculpted glass, stained glass, etched/engraved glass, fused glass, mosaics, cut glass, and neon are encouraged to apply. Artists may submit up to three artworks. This exhibition will be held concurrent with a historic glass exhibition by the Yolo County Historical Society at our neighboring exhibition space, the Gibson House in Woodland, CA.

Submissions will be reviewed by YoloArts for eligibility. Eligible entries will be juried by the members of the YoloArts Arts Advisory Committee. Edits will be made based on number of submissions, and size of works. To guide assessment of aesthetics in artworks, committee members will refer to the 11 Aesthetic Attributes framework to review and evaluate all submissions. In considering the 11 attributes themselves, they are each things that we encourage an evaluator/juror to consider when evaluating an artwork if you remove the social justice lens and focus on the object itself.

Artists must be 18 years of age. Artists must use glass as a material in their work. All submitted artworks need to have been fabricated after January 1, 2016.

Artwork & Display Guidelines:

●The artwork is solely the result of the artistic effort of the artist(s).

●Original artwork that compliments the exhibit space (2D work with an average size of9” x 12” (framed) and not exceeding 6’ x 8’.) 3D work may be displayed on pedestals provided by the gallery or by the artist. Plexi cases provided by artist.

●2D Artwork must meet professional gallery display standards – framed and wired to be installation-ready; unframed artwork on canvas or board must be wired. (No sawtooth hangers.)
