Do you love meeting people and being in the community? Are you passionate about the importance of the arts and arts education? Rhythmix Cultural Works (RCW) seeks a Community Outreach and Development Associate to cultivate community relationships, help secure financial support for arts and arts education programs, and assist with special fundraising events, campaigns and activities.

The Community Outreach and Development Associate will attend community events as a Rhythmix ambassador and serve as a liaison with prospective donors, sponsors, schools, foundations and funding partners. This position will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementing of Rhythmix fundraising activities including the annual fund, sponsorship program and special events to engage sponsors, donors/in-kind donors, vendors and attendees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Community & Arts Education Outreach

  • Share information and make presentations about the organization at community events as a Rhythmix ambassador
  • Work closely with Rhythmix’s Executive Director, staff and RCW’s Board of Directors to build new relationships and deepen existing relationships in the community
  • Assist with creation and delivery of Rhythmix program materials for educational and community outreach, including non-profit presentations and quarterly RCW Community Advisory Board meetings
  • Conduct outreach to schools and school districts regarding the Performance, Art & Learning (PAL) youth arts education program
  • Implement follow up communications to special event attendees (emails, newsletters, etc)
  • Able to work evenings and/or weekends at Rhythmix events as needed

Development/Fundraising

  • Cultivate new donors, business and in-kind sponsorships
  • Help organize and implement special events and annual fundraising activities, including solicitation of in-kind donations for annual online auction and fundraisers. (PAL Arts Education Brunches, Pour Your HeART Out Annual fundraiser)
  • Help with new prospect research and contribute to other related projects as needed
  • Initiate donor prospect visits and fundraising calls
  • Maintain donor and contacts history (I.e., meetings) and gifts in Patron Manager database. Send donation and sponsor recognition/appreciation
  • Create and send thank you letters for sponsorships and auction items
  • Implement donor appreciation activities such as making phone calls, gathering testimonials and follow through with donor acknowledgement & recognition

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years minimum experience in community outreach and/or development and fundraising
  • Must be passionate about the arts and embrace Rhythmix Cultural Works’ mission (please visit: www.rhythmix.org)
  • Strong interpersonal, public relations, communications and writing skills
  • Knowledge and experience in building external community relationships and comfortable asking for sponsorships and donations
  • Desire and ability to forge new connections and deepen existing relationships within Alameda and East Bay communities
  • Be a self-starter, highly organized and able to work independently. Able to follow through on tasks and goals
  • Demonstrate self-confidence, a positive attitude, concern for people and community, and have good listening skills
  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Strong computer literacy with MS Office 365 and One Drive
  • Experience working in a CRM database and newsletter builder (Salesforce/Patron Manager and MailChimp are a plus)

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Competitive/commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Flexible hours.

P/T: 20-25 hours/week minimum.
