Residency, open studio, and virtual exhibition
. 6 weeks (5 meetings + 1 open studio)
. 1 scientific and/or ancestral guest speaker
. Virtual open studio and exhibition
In this program, artists develop a project that fits the theme of the residency and leads to a clear and tangible result.
There are 5 virtual meetings of 2 hours each, once a week, between all International Residents under the mentorship of a member of the MANGO and/or Moku Art Studio team. The spirit is to focus on the concrete production of the project. The meetings have suggested guidelines that encourage reflection and the discovery of the connection between the projects and enhance the artistic practices of each resident.
THEME: Artists work and explore creatively on OUR LAND, terrestrial ecosystems, whether through caring for forests, combating desertification, restoring degraded land, or responding to the urgent loss of biodiversity. Artists are encouraged to approach these themes from cultural, scientific, ancestral, or community-rooted perspectives, thus contributing to a global debate on how we can safeguard and regenerate the landscapes that sustain life.
Territory, memory, and home as a holistic interconnection that accompanies our human existence on our earth.
During the program, we will have special guests from the fields of science and/or ancestral knowledge, with the aim of providing a scientific and/or ancestral perspective where artists can open themselves up to questions and exchange ideas to enhance their own.
We close the Program with an Open Studio and the opening of the virtual exhibition, where the residents open their workspace virtually, also putting their creative process on display so that virtual visitors can access the artist and their creations.
