We have several exciting opportunities and open calls for artists including the 2026-2027 Kala Fellowship, Artist-in-Residence program, Veterans Residency, SFSU Emerging Artist Residency at Kala and new Curatorial Fellowship. The application deadline is March 1. Artists are encouraged to apply to the Fellowship and Artist-in-Residence Program in a single application.
This cycle we are excited to launch Kala’s Curatorial Fellowship. For the inaugural program we are accepting applications from Bay Area curators, artists, and cultural workers to provide research and exhibition development opportunities. The year-long program culminates in an 8-10 week exhibition in the Kala Gallery. Learn more about Kala’s Curatorial Fellowship here.
Residents receive 24/7 access to a shared 8,000-square-foot Print Studio, equipment, digital lab, sculpture lab, black and white darkroom, and 3 individual artist project spaces (150-400 sq feet available to visiting artists). Kala’s Artist-in-Residence program serves over 150 artists annually. International, national, and local artists producing innovative work in printmaking, sculpture, photography, digital media, film and video, sound, animation, media art installation, and book arts are encouraged to apply.
