Part of the team with the Producing Lead (Jessi Barber), Venue & Operations Manager (Aja Randall), Interim Technical Director (Del Medoff) and event/performance Technicians, the Joe Goode Annex Front of House team of House Managers and Box Office Attendants support a positive and welcoming experience for artists and audiences alike.
The roles: House Managers prepare the theater for audiences, including theatre seating arrangements, informational signage, and arranging the lobby. They are the lead point person with the presenting artists, communicating details around the start of the show, welcoming the audience with a house speech, checking vaccination cards, offering support to audience members with access needs, and providing clear communication around safety and emergency procedures. They are also responsible for closing the theater following the event including light clean-up and resetting.
Box Office Attendants welcome audiences, check in will-call ticket-buyers and sell walk-up tickets using Salesforce/PatronManager. They may offer programs, or support needed communications between the artists and audience (e.g. if there are strobe effects, or special seating arrangements). Box Office Attendants reconcile the ticket revenue following each event, and provide that as a report to the Annex leadership team.
The individual: The positions require strong communication skills and attention to detail, with an artist-centered approach. You may hold one or both of these roles, and sign up for shifts based on availability and interest (e.g. House Managers typically have longer shifts than Box Office Attendants, so sometimes one may work better for your schedule.)
