Spring Camp Assistant

Position Summary
The ICA San Diego is looking for a Spring Camp Assistant to provide operational support for the ICA Spring Art Camp. The position will work closely with the Education Manager and assist with the successful operation of the ICA’s seasonal Art Spring Camp. ICA Spring Art Camp takes place at ICA North in Encinitas (1578 S El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024)
from March 30 – April 3.

Responsibilities

● On-site for student check-in and pick-up, in coordination with Education Manager, make sure necessary paperwork is ready before check-in and pick-up
● Respond to any emergency situations involving campers, CPR certification required (ICA covers)
● Attend to miscellaneous student needs
● Give breaks to Teaching Artists
● Run arts and crafts activities and supervise students during aftercare
● Keep a tidy camp space, check restroom cleanliness (Ops for supply requests)
● Working with Education Manager to manage stock of supplies, snacks, and other items
● Supervise children in outdoor activities
● Work with camp interns on specific assignments
● Answers inquiries from parents in person or by phone
● Assist in monitoring the education@icsandiego.org email account for camp-related inquiries
● Oversee collection and storage of artworks for student exhibitions
● Help install student artwork for student exhibitions

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Proactive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
● Ability to interact with all students of all ages
● Excellent customer service skills
● Good understanding of computers and software and the ability to learn and use new technologies as needed
● Excellent time management and organizational skills.
● Familiarity with spreadsheet and database operations
● Strong relationship building skills
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Required Education and Experience
● 1-2 years customer service experience
● Experience working with students of various ages
● CPR certification (ICA will provide if needed)

Preferred Education and Experience
● Previous Art Education experience

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Some lifting and standing for prolonged periods may be required, as well as occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. ICA San Diego is committed to accessibility and will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals. No travel will be required of this position.

Compensation
Hourly rate is between $20.00. A typical shift is 6-7 hours, weekdays between 8am to 3pm, additional hours as required.
