artEquity provides tools, resources, and programming at the intersection of art and activism. With over 15,000 participants and a growing alumni community, artEquity is building a broad base of individuals and organizations who are creating and sustaining a culture of equity, inclusion, and justice through arts and culture.

The systems we interact with often reflect deeply ingrained dynamics of white supremacy. In moving intentionally, we refuse to disengage; we are responding by gathering. We all deserve a safe place to land, to process what we’re enduring, and to be met where we are. Our FREE community offering, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Surviving Predominantly White Institutions (PWI) makes space for that.

Each BIPOC Surviving PWIs session will cover different topics, and you are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions based on your own interests and availability.  

The goals of our Black, Indigenous, People of Color Surviving Predominantly White Institutions Series intend to:

• Create a community of support for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) who are either actively working, have worked, or are considering working in a predominantly white institution (PWI);
• Break through the isolation experienced by BIPOC folks who are often the only one or one of few inside of white institutions;
• Provide fundamental concepts and terminology to support and empower BIPOC folks in identifying and navigating racism while working in PWIs;
• Activate wellness and healing for BIPOC folks as central to surviving and thriving; and
• Provide and inspire strategies for BIPOC folks that meet them where they are currently on their journeys, whether they’re seeking to disrupt, survive, and/or leave.

This space is for individuals who identify as People of Color, BIPOC, AAPI, MENASA, ALAANA, SWANA, Black/African American, Indigenous/Native, Latinx/Latine, or People of the Global Majority. Each session will cover different topics, and you are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions based on your own interests and availability.

BIPOC Surviving PWIs is free, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to attend. Please register for the individual sessions you wish to join.

Engaging with one another encourages us to say, “I don’t know what’s next, but I’ve got this—we’ve got this.” We remind ourselves that we have agency over how we choose to navigate systems.
