DESCRIPTION
O’Hanlon Center for the Arts invites you to submit work for our 22nd Annual Wabi-Sabi Exhibition.

“Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry.”
— Leonard Koren

Wabi-sabi invites us to find beauty in the simple, the rustic, the unassuming, and the imperfect—to appreciate things that are unfinished, irregular, weathered, used, or worn by time. It embraces asymmetry and roughness, values what is natural and intuitive, and finds meaning in what is modest, intimate, austere, and incomplete. Proportion need not be perfect; only what is necessary needs to remain. A rusty object, a found fragment, a rough surface, or an unexpected combination of natural materials can evoke something larger—the transient beauty of the natural world and, perhaps, a sense of the infinite.

This exhibition celebrates artists who explore these qualities through their work, emphasizing not the perfected final form, but the feeling and sensibility of wabi-sabi. We invite work that is dynamic, spontaneous, irregular, random, and poetic—work that reveals beauty in the marks of time, chance, nature, and the human hand.

THIS IS AN IN-PERSON /IN-GALLERY SHOW ONLY
