Call for Artists — 7th Street Museum + Living Archive

Description

The 7th Street Museum + Living Archive is seeking artists as we build a community-held museum on West Oakland’s historic 7th Street corridor, anchored in The Barn and Esther’s Orbit Room.

This call is open to installations, murals, sound works, textiles, digital and AR work, sculpture, neon and signage, poetry, speculative design, and archive or documentary work. We especially want to hear from artists exploring jazz, blues, and the music legacy of 7th Street, and from artists working with themes of Black joy, cooperative economics, displacement and resistance, migration and memory, and community authorship.

Oakland-based Black and BIPOC artists are prioritized first.

Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. First deadline: May 15, 2026. A jury of local artists, elders, and EBPREC members will review all proposals. Accepted artists will be notified by August 1, 2026, and invited to participate in site visits and meetings with our cooperative team.
