PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Hollyhock House is a historic house museum and Los Angeles’s only UNESCO World Heritage site. Located at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard in Barnsdall Art Park, it is operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Education and Programs Manager (Arts Manager I), the as needed Arts Associate assist in coordinating programs and events at Hollyhock House and maintains a robust and active volunteer docent program. This part-time position assists with implementing regular and seasonal programming, including guided tours and special events, to ensure smooth operations and quality offerings. The Arts Associate serves as a primary point of contact for Hollyhock House’s volunteers, including training, scheduling, and coordinating docents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

SPECIAL EVENTS & PROGRAMS
● Organizes and coordinates seasonal programs and events at Hollyhock House, including staffing, sourcing materials, liaising with vendors and external partners, and set up/take down as required
● Coordinates special events at Hollyhock House, including exhibition openings, institutional and media visits, special and group tours, and collaborations with other arts organizations
● Assists in the coordination of group and guided tours to Hollyhock House; liaises with Education and Programs Assistant to coordinate logistics and staffing

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
● Maintains the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, and continuing education of volunteer docents
● Coordinates volunteer shifts and assists with guided-tour program; maintains regular correspondence with volunteers
● Updates training materials and interpretive resources

ADMINISTRATIVE
● Assists with administrative tasks as needed: organizing house/tour supplies, maintaining forms, supply sourcing and ordering, correspondence, and updates to printed and digital materials.
● Regularly works on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), as well as evenings as required to monitor programs and special events
● Assists in maintenance of website and digital and social media platforms

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The job will be performed in-person at Hollyhock House in Barnsdall Art Park, located at 4800 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles. The days to be asked to work are to be determined. This position must be able to lift 20 to 25 pounds and be able to conduct a variety of work assignments with various deadlines. Part-time positions accrue “Sick Days” from the date of hire and “Compensated Paid-Time-Off” (CPTO) after six (6) months in the position. Candidates must have a valid California Driver’s License. Candidates may be requested to disclose all sources of employment to mitigate risks of conflict of interest.
