Mini Print LA 2026

Description

Organized by the Los Angeles Printmaking Society, Mini Print LA 2026 is a call to printmakers worldwide to submit small format prints.

THEME: In the Present
In the Present calls on artists to respond to the urgency of now. This moment is marked by overlapping crises, rapid change, and negotiations of power, identity, survival, and resistance. We invite works that grapple with the socio-political and environmental realities shaping our present lives, from visible struggles to embodied experiences of living through uncertainty. This call welcomes bold, critical, and vulnerable artistic responses that refuse distance but reflect on the present.

CALENDAR:

Submissions due: March 8, 2026

Jury Notification: March 15, 2026

Reception of accepted work: April 12, 2026

Exhibition Dates: April 18 – May 17, 2026

Reception for Artists: April 18, 2026 5 – 8:00 PM

Juror: ABEL ALEJANDRE

Abel Alejandre is a self-trained printmaker who has worked with this medium for over 20 years. Printmaking is an integral part of his work. When crafting a woodblock, his lines follow the contours of his subjects, paying homage to the traditions of master engravers. In doing so, he views his prints as his shouting voice, while the drawings – the templates – are his whispering voice. Occasionally, he works on a monumental scale to present his narratives; some blocks are hand-carved and may require months to complete. Once printed, each run yields a limited edition.
