With support from the California Arts Council the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts can increase our capacity to serve more children and youth in cultural music and the arts. We hope to be at our pre pandemic level in the next fiscal year with this funding. This funding will also assist with eliminating our current waiting list due to the decrease in funding received during the pandemic.
The Alisal Center for the Fine Arts has served the Salinas community for nearly 40 years, providing culturally rooted arts education and community programming for children, youth, and families in East Salinas. ACFA has evolved into a creative and cultural hub that supports emerging artists and professionals while remaining a strong foundation for community members seeking accessible arts opportunities.
ACFA offers a wide range of year-round programs that celebrate cultural, traditional, and contemporary art forms. Core programs include Baile Folklórico Alma y Tradición, visual arts workshops, community theater and Teatro Familiar productions, Rondalla and guitar instruction, and other multidisciplinary arts experiences. Through these programs, participants develop artistic skills, cultural pride, leadership abilities, and meaningful connections to their community.
Over the years, ACFA has helped cultivate generations of musicians, dancers, visual artists, actors, and teaching artists, many of whom have returned to mentor and instruct the next generation of youth. Today, ACFA is recognized as one of the largest arts-oriented organizations in East Salinas, providing free and low-barrier access to arts education, performances, exhibitions, and cultural celebrations.
Each year, ACFA serves hundreds of students and community members through workshops, rehearsals, performances, exhibitions, and public presentations that foster creative expression, character development, teamwork, and community engagement. Through its holistic and culturally responsive approach, ACFA empowers youth and families to see themselves as artists, leaders, and active contributors to community transformation.
