With support from the California Arts Council, ARTS VISALIA will continue its focus of providing visual art opportunities to our entire community by involving our Hispanic, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, AAPI, disadvantaged and vulnerable youth in exhibitions, art classes and other art related activities. Since 2020, when our equity statement was completed we have developed connections with members of these groups to provide shows and classes and eliminate barriers to access.
Arts Visalia Visual Art Center offers a space for local, regional, and national artists to show and sell their work and the public to interact with their work through monthly art exhibitions. The gallery is open to the public, free of charge, Wednesdays through Saturdays, from Noon to 5:30 p.m. Artist talks, lectures, and demonstrations promote interaction between the community and artists. We offer art classes for youth and adults taught by qualified artist instructors, with scholarships available for youth who might otherwise miss out on the opportunity to explore their creative talents. Youth who participate in our classes are given the option to show and sell their work in our Young Imaginations Gallery space. In addition, we provide open-studio space where artists can work while visiting with cohorts. Our gift shop features unique items crafted by local artisans who sell their art on consignment. Arts Visalia participates in community events such as the Tulare County Arts Consortium’s Taste the Arts Festival. The Board of Directors is committed to making the gallery a welcoming place for everyone in the community and has focused our energies on making this commitment a reality by showing a diverse array of art and artists.
