With support from the California Arts Council, Broad Room Creative Collective Sacramento will offer the second year of our California Art Supply Mutual Aid Training Program (CASMATP). This program provides free training and support to groups and organizations throughout California to launch a program modeled on our Free Art Supply Closet. In our inaugural year, we trained 10 groups and organizations to bring art supply mutual aid to their communities to ensure that everyone has access to creativity. These groups ranged from the Truckee Artist Lofts to the LA Zine Festival. In our second year, we plan to bring on more groups from rural and central California to continue to grow a strong statewide network making art and creativity accessible to every Californian.
Broad Room’s primary programs are the Free Art Supply Closet, the California Art Supply Mutual Aid Training Program, and affordable artist studio space. We serve about 2,000 people per year through the Free Art Supply Closet, which provides free new and gently-used art supplies to the public. We are currently training 10 groups to start their own art supply mutual aid projects throughout California. We provide affordable studio space to 18 local artists in our Sacramento-based warehouse.
