With support from the California Arts Council, MOZART YOUTH CAMERATA will curate residency programs and community events uniting Persian women’s voices and Western music traditions. Under the artistic guidance of composer, vocalist and activist Mahsa Vahdat, participating artists will collectively compose 10 new songs for voice, Persian instruments, and Western classical instruments. Our goals include bridging Persian and Western music tonality, empowering artists, providing performance opportunities for Persian women, engaging the community through the stories of intercultural collaboration, and preserving threatened cultural traditions. This funding allows us to organize impactful community events and workshops, engage diverse audiences including youth at music schools, and facilitate meaningful cultural exchange. The California Arts Council’s support is instrumental in realizing our vision of fostering cross-cultural understanding and creating lasting impact through the power of music.
Musaics of the Bay unites musicians and artists from the Bay Area and beyond in unique creative collaborations we call “musical mosaics,” meant to enrich the local community and the cultural world at large. We believe musical partnership has a transformative and life-enriching power. By pairing performers and living composers of all ages and backgrounds with visual artists, poets, sculptors, filmmakers and more, our series invigorates local and national cultural life by inspiring new works of music and art. Join us virtually for our broadcasted Stay-at-Home Symposium releases and in-person in the Bay Area at our residency programs, artist forums, and community events.
Providing enriching tools for emerging artists is an essential part of our work. Our Residency Programs offer enriching opportunities for emerging artists to connect with established artists for collaborations and the creation of new work in the Bay Area. Our Artist Forums provide essential spaces for artists of all disciplines to come together for dialogue and inspiration. Our office hours provide artists with one-on-one career and project guidance on a bimonthly basis.
On our “stage,” performers present world premieres in in-person concerts and virtual broadcasts, composers break down the process of composition for our community, and classical, jazz and world music instrumentalists and vocalists improvise, collaborate and curate new programs for the community. The Bay Area is one of the epicenters of visual and creative arts in the US; by featuring these remarkable emerging and established local talents as well as international artists, we inspire the creation of important new works that performers around the world will take to the stage. Join us for exciting and synergetic collaborations across disciplines, delighting performers, artists, composers, and our audiences alike.
