With support from the California Arts Council, the Balboa Park Cultural District agrees to reporting requirements (including Interim and Final Reports), agrees to send a representative contingent to any CAC-convenings, and will implement a new major governance structure and Experience Plan for the Cultural District. This process will engage multiple stakeholders throughout the Park and San Diego community, and establish new partnerships throughout the City of San Diego’s administration, extending our relationships beyond City of San Diego’s Parks and Recreation Department.
The Cultural Partnership offers communication, networking, advocacy, and professional development at both the regional and state levels. These programs provide a collective voice to advocate for the arts in Balboa Park, San Diego County, and throughout the State. This is achieved through coalitions such as the “Arts + Culture San Diego Coalition” and the “California Arts District Coalition”. Additional inter-organizational Balboa Park collaborative efforts work to strengthen Balboa Park’s members by providing opportunities for employees and volunteers through the One Park – One Team programs – including the Parkwide IDEA Working Group. The Explorer Pass provides year-long opportunities to access 16 museums for one price; free pass programs using the Explorer Annual Pass are made available to underserved communities, and to active duty military families countywide, through the Community Access Pass (CAP) and Military Appreciation Pass (MAP) programs.
