Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, ACTA NON VERBA YOUTH URBAN FARM PROJECT will provide culturally inclusive arts programs utilizing various mediums to support the social, emotional, and educational development of the youth in our programs.

Organization Summary

In addition to Urban Farming, Financial Education, Youth Development, and Environmental Education, the arts are an integral part of the work Acta Non Verba does within the community. We utilize various mediums as a means to bridge cultural divides and create unity within our community.

In each of our seasonal camps as well as during our after school program, ANV hires visual artists, photographers, Caribbean drummers, violinists, sculptors, Hip-Hop dance instructors, Capoeira instructors and more to ensure that our youth value not only the art that they see in and around Oakland and beyond; but see themselves as potential artists as well as activists.

ANV’s challenge and commitment is to ensure that the artists that we promote are all culturally relevant to the youth and families that we serve and that the many types of art that we expose them to brings our diverse communities together, not divide them further.
