With support from the California Arts Council, CIRCUS CENTER will conduct free after-school and summertime circus classes for low-income children grades K-5 in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. Through circus, students experience non-competitive physical activities that combine the benefits of exercise with artistic and creative expression.
Founded 40 years ago, Circus Center is the leading institution for circus arts in the Bay Area, teaching disciplines like aerial, acrobatics, and juggling. Circus Center provides pre-professional youth programming, recreational classes for all ages, summer camps, artist residencies, workshops, and performances. With a strong focus on community engagement and equity, Circus Center’s Tenderloin program introduces underserved youth to circus arts, making circus accessible to all. Circus Center’s impact is reflected in our staff and alumni performing in renowned international companies like Cirque du Soleil, and The 7 Fingers, as well as local companies like Circus Bella.
