With support from the California Arts Council, La Maestra Foundation will expand arts opportunities for low-income youth in City Heights, one of San Diego’s most under-served communities. La Maestra provides resources and tools to help expand La Maestra’s art program to reach more youth attending San Diego Unified schools.
La Maestra offers various social services all of which are integrated through interdepartmental communication and referral protocols. Services include job training and placement, transitional housing, after-school and summer programs including arts education, a community garden, an intergenerational center for all ages, microcredit and microenterprise programs, and an onsite food pantry.
