With support from the California Arts Council, LOS ANGELES JEWISH SYMPHONY will expand its education outreach program, A PATCHWORK OF CULTURES: EXPLORING THE SEPHARDIC-LATINO CONNECTION. to serve at least 1,800 elementary students in Los Angeles County schools and present three culminating concerts each year of the grant period.
The only symphony orchestra in America dedicated to the performance and preservation of music that reflects the Jewish experience, the LAJS was founded in 1994 by Dr. Noreen Green, an award-winning conductor, scholar and educator. Core professional members (including Concertmaster Mark Kashper) play with the LA Philharmonic and in film recording sessions.
Frequently collaborating with other performing arts ensembles, the LAJS presents 3-4 concerts annually, and an annual education outreach program, A PATCHWORK OF CULTURES: EXPLORING THE SEPHARDIC-LATINO CONNECTION.
