With support from the California Arts Council, Outfest will expand its 20th Anniversary Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival to feature extended collaborations with local artists representing the under-served LGBTQIA+ community of color. A spotlight of curated festival programming will reflect each artist’s unique identity, to center local artists and cultural expression.
Our tentpole programs and services include:
*The Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival: LA’s oldest film festival & now the most respected LGBTQ film festival worldwide, attracting almost 40,000 people, featuring 160+ films.
*The Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival: The only multicultural, multi-gender festival of its kind globally, featuring 10 days of screening films, documentaries, and episodics that center the QTBIPOC perspective, plus workshops, panels, and events for emerging QTBIPOC creators.
*The OutMuseum: The first LGBTQIA+ arts & media virtual museum of its kind – available free to the public – and home to a combination of rotating and permanent exhibits centering themes, identities, and experiences which celebrate and commemorate the queer and trans* communities.
*The Outfest Forward Artist Development Programs have given thousands of queer & trans* artists, filmmakers, and future entertainment leaders the opportunity to discover and develop careers in entertainment, including:
*OutSet the Young Filmmakers Project: A program designed to empower and educate LGBTQIA+ young people (ages 18-24) through a 6-month filmmaking lab, led by industry professionals and Outfest alumni filmmakers.
*Outfest Screenwriting Lab: Selects 5 to 10 emerging screenwriting fellows, annually, to receive a week-long lab with mentorship from top industry showrunners, executives, and writers, to prepare and publicly present their new and developing screenplays.
*Artist Workshops & Series: Provides free/low-cost access to top studio brands in safe, inclusive educational environments throughout the city, many taught by alumni.
