With support from the California Arts Council, Quinteto Latino will support a professional, multiracial wind ensemble, commission new works by Latino composers, provide music education for students in low-income and Latino-majority communities, maintain networks for emerging Latino musicians, and offer DEI and Access training for music organizations and educational institutions.
Quinteto Latino is a San Francisco Bay Area wind quintet with a mission to build community through Latino Classical Music: performance and advocacy. This unique ensemble performs works exclusively by Latino composers. Through our varied and innovative work in venues both traditional and nontraditional, we strive to make this music available, relevant, and inspiring to audiences across cultural, class, and ethnic lines. We are committed assembly and teaching artists, having worked with students of all ages and ability levels in both English and Spanish. In addition, we use our organization as a tool to advocate on behalf of Latino composers and classical musicians through mentoring, commissioning, hiring and being a voice, both regionally and nationally, for issues around diversity and classical music.
