To accomplish our mission, Oakland Bloom works at different levels:
1. Collaboration with chefs.
2. Stewarding a collective kitchen and restaurant space
3. Neighborhood-based cultural programs

With chefs, we
– Host workshops to support skill-sharing, healing, storytelling and strengthening businesses; and
– Coordinate commercial opportunities for chefs to gain experience cooking at different scales and formats (e.g. catering, pop ups, markets / retail), to share their food ways, stories and gain exposure while earning income

2. For the restaurant and kitchen space, OTK, we:
– Host an accessible commercial kitchen, shared equipment and supplies for our immigrant and diaspora chef community;
– Program the space through community and educational events in collaboration with chefs;
– Host regular open hours for the public to learn about and support chefs and their culinary food ways; and
– Develop our space as a community hub that supports local and solidarity-based economies

3. Finally, we engage with neighborhood-based events and organize to strengthen local support for and resilience of small immigrant businesses and neighborhoods with a focus on Oakland Chinatown, our operating home.
