Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, Lime Arts Productions, a small, grassroots theatre and arts production company, will purchase production materials, equipment rentals, and subscriptions needed to carry out our mission. Additional funds will be used to contract with artists and administrators year-round for our various programs and projects.

Organization Summary

Through Lime Arts Productions’ (LAP) half-decade history helms a portfolio that illustrates a critic- and audience-loved mainstage season, education programs with award-winning teaching artists, and annual Twenty By Twenty Fringe.

Our organizational model allows for flexibility in meeting our communities’ needs.

Our programming and resources offered to our community have pivoted several times during our organization’s original inception as a result of community feedback.

Education Programming
LAP offers several modes of educational opportunities throughout the year, most of which are free to the public and geared toward emerging/young artists. In this area, we offer one-on-one mentoring with local organizations and/or artists, theatre exposure via free tickets to regional theatres’ shows, “one-off” intensives, and seasonal workshop series. Some examples of workshop topics include Playwriting, Elements of Theatrical Design, Directing, Auditioning, and Funding Your Art.

Mainstage Season
LAP produces a mainstage season of theatre productions and film screenings year round, most of which are free to the public. The themes of shows are relevant, resonant, and feature our community of young artists. Some past shows have included Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph, Doubt: A Parable by John Patrick Shanley, The Party Hop by Natalie Margolin.

Twenty By Twenty Fringe
LAP piloted the Twenty By Twenty Fringe (TBTF) in 2021, as a direct result of the pandemic’s impact on our industry. The mission of TBTF is to produce and curate bold, innovative, and intimate new works created by the most refreshing and current voices, artists in their 20s. The program specifically names our values of justice, equity, and resonance in storytelling.
Our pilot program brought 172 young artists together to tell twenty new stories to great audience successes. We had Artistic Directors, Producers, Casting Agents, and various audience members from all four corners of our state.
