With support from the California Arts Council, CLASSICAL CROSSROADS INC will hosts 19 classical-music concerts in two monthly series: 1) “First Fridays at First! ~ fff” at First Lutheran Church & School in Torrance, California and 2) “Second Sundays at Two” at Rolling Hills United Methodist Church in Rolling Hills Estates, California.
Since its founding in 1993, Classical Crossroads, Inc. has evolved into a multi-faceted, mission-driven nonprofit (incorporated in 2013) that promotes the great art of classical music with endeavors including the following:
* “Classical Interludes” (formerly “First Fridays at First! – fff”) — free monthly Saturday-afternoon chamber music concerts and recitals, followed by complementary receptions of coffee, baked treats, and fruit, at First Lutheran Church & School in Torrance, California.
* “Second Sundays at Two” — free monthly afternoon chamber music concerts and recitals presented in the sanctuary of Rolling Hills United Methodist Church.
* Outreach Concerts for youths in underserved areas of Los Angeles. Outreach concerts in underserved areas are presented in partnership with two music-education nonprofits: 1) Global Arts and 2) The Santa Cecilia Arts & Learning Center.
* Annual well-paid concert opportunities for young up-and-coming performing artists: 1) winners of Peninsula Symphony’s Concerto Competition and 2) top ensembles from the USC Thornton School of Music.
* Hosting the award-winning, free Chamber Music Newsletter, founded in 1999 and delivered every two weeks via email to over 4,000 subscribers. Now, it focuses on chamber music and recitals, both local and worldwide, which are livestreamed.
Classical Crossroads is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility with a focus on a constituency explicitly mentioned in the previous White House’s Executive Orders: “Support the independence and lifelong inclusion of people with disabilities.” For those unable to attend concerts in person, due to various reasons including physical or mental challenges, illness, or advanced age, Classical Crossroads provides access by simultaneously livestreaming all its concerts, benefiting classical music lovers across California and the United States.
Classical Crossroads is run entirely by the volunteer services of its sixteen board members. There are no paid staff. Over 80% of the money it raises is for the performing artists.
