Our core program is to create and support community organization and infrastructure to deliver arts opportunities and experiences. Our core services are financial and training support for community organizations and individuals such as the establishment and support of the Compton Artists’ Alliance. Compton Artists’ Alliance leadership was trained by Compton Arts Council and produced several Art Walks in Compton attended by several hundred people from Compton and the surrounding communities. Our services also include developing strategic partnerships between the Compton art community and the larger southern California art community, for example, Compton artists being featured in an exhibit and panel discussions on issues of social justice and gentrification at a gallery space and performing arts center in Pasadena, California. In summary, all activities of Compton Arts Council serve to support our mission to build out infrastructure that provides art opportunities, career enhancement and experiences for the artists and citizens of the greater Compton community.
