With support from the California Arts Council, Quadre Music Group will support new musical opportunities for under-served and marginalized artists and audiences around the issues of homelessness and climate change through community engagement activities and formal performances for over 1200 individuals.
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF CORE PROGRAMS
1) Community Engagement – Quadre shines a spotlight on the issues of homelessness, gender and racial inequality, and the environment. Through new commissions by local and international composers, the ensemble partners with local 501(c)(3) nonprofit social organizations and collaborates with regionally recognized visual artists and poets.
For the 2021-2022 season, Quadre is presenting “Nature: Calls for Harmony” which includes collaboration with local agencies to highlight the work being done to address a host of environmental issues in our community. At the same time, Quadre will continue its work from the previous season, “Homelessness: Hope, Humanity and Heart” working with the clients served by local homeless shelters, food pantries, and low-cost housing facilities.
2) Performances – In conjunction with Quadre’s community engagement, Quadre performs in local San Francisco Bay Area spaces such as the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts to present concert programs focused on social issues.
3) Educational Outreach – Quadre offers a variety of virtual and in-person education activities in conjunction with our concert presentations such as: masterclasses, lectures, outreach concerts, reading sessions and horn days.
4) Quadre International Composition Contest – As part of Quadre’s mission, the ensemble holds a composition contest annually to stimulate interest in writing for the horn and provide an avenue for horn works to be performed.
