With support from the California Arts Council, Musique Sur La Mer Orchestras will fill our open Program Assistant position, which has been left vacant as a direct result of COVID-19. The Program Assistant will allow the CEO to focus her efforts on development that is crucial for further sustainable growth.
MUSIQUE SUR LA MER ORCHESTRAS INC consists of the professional orchestra and chamber ensembles, youth orchestras and ensembles, and community orchestras. It provides instrumental music lessons, art classes, concert series, chamber music, jazz concerts, recitals, and workshops. Musique Sur La Mer Orchestras, pre COVID-19, has had opportunities to perform locally in nursing homes and retirement care facilities for underserved and financially distressed senior citizens. These performances were held twice each month on a year around basis. Children and youth were also able to play in London, Costa Rica and Australia. The students who participated in these performances were able to provide meaningful musical experiences, as a culmination of the many practice sessions and musical lessons, which gives them opportunities for expression and development. The following concerts were performed free of charge for the community: Diversity Celebration Concert, Gala Benefit Concert, Autumn Fest Concert, and Musique Sur La Mer-ry Holiday Concert. Private and Group Lessons, Community Building Events (Wine Wednesdays, Monday Musicales, December Holiday Open House)-Online Free Music Theory and Music History Classes are also provided for the community. We provided lessons and musical experiences online due to COVID-19, but have in FY 2023 have fully transitioned back to in-person services again, as listed above, while also retaining and expanding elements of online and hybrid education as well.
