Project Description

“With support from the California Arts Council, Dream A World Education will sustain three existing staff roles: program operations, social enterprise coordinator, and fundraising. CAC funds will enable us to maintain continuity of program operations and enable us to fulfill our mission during next fiscal year.

Organization Summary

Secrets of the Heart® (SOTH) arts workshops pair music, dance, theatre arts, and visual arts with “secrets” (like kindness and individuality), vocabulary, American Sign Language (ASL), and cultural traditions around the world.

SOTH TV Preschool/ UTK “Seedlings”: 24-week series featuring Native American artists and Indigenous folk artists from around the world who teach children about nature and arts of the earth.

SOTH TV Series I Grades TK-Kdg: 24-week interactive series teaches multiple art forms and meditation. Family members create a vision board. Secretos del Corazón is the Spanish version for English Language Learners. Includes a culminating performance for families.

SOTH TV Series II Grades 1 & 2: 24-week interactive series. Music, dance, theatre arts, visual arts, poetry, instruments, and cultures from around the world. Recurring theme is “The Heroes Among Us.” Includes culminating performance for families.

One World Drum Circles (1st grade): 12 week on-campus residency. Teaches rhythms and songs from cultures around the world. Children learn to hold and play a drum using proper technique. Includes culminating performance for families.

Dance in America (2nd grade): 12 week on-campus residency. Teaches the history of dance in the United States and dance forms that include ballet, tap, modern, jazz and Hip Hop. Includes culminating performance for families.

The World of Theatre (3rd-5th): 12 week on-campus residency. Activities nurture creativity self-expression and explore different cultures and theatrical traditions from around the world.

Puppet Making (5th-6th): 12 week on-campus residency. Creative hands-on introduction to a selection of engaging puppet making projects.

The World of Photography (5th-6th): 12 week on-campus residency. Students learn about photography through “a different lens.”

Curricula are aligned with the California Arts Standards, National Core Arts Standards, Common Core Standards for language, CASEL Core Competencies and the Social Justice Anti-Bias Standards of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
