With the support from the California Arts Council, West Coast Singers LGBTQ+ Chorus of Los Angeles will utilize grant funds to subsidize salaries for our Artistic Director, Video Editor, and accompanists. This will allow us to continue serving the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate diversity, inspire equality, and build community acceptance.
West Coast Singers LGBTQ+ Chorus of Los Angeles (WCS) produces two major concerts yearly. For our fall season, weekly rehearsals begin the second week of September and culminate in a holiday concert the first weekend of December. Our spring season begins the last week of January and concludes with a Spring concert the first week of June, which coincides with the start of LGBTQ+ Pride month. Both concerts include choral performances and highlight solo and small acts that feature our chorus members’ talents,
WCS partners with LGBTQ+ youth and family organizations and sponsors their tickets to attend our concerts. WCS never turns away a patron due to a lack of funds; free and reduced-cost community tickets are available. All of our concerts are American Sign Language interpreted for our Deaf and Hard of Hearing patrons. Virtual performances include ASL interpretation and/or closed captioning.
Throughout the year, we provide free community performances featuring curated selections from our concerts (depending on the season) and inspirational highlights targeted toward underserved and underrepresented communities. The chorus also offers in-kind performances at community service events hosted by other non-profit organizations that align with our mission and vision. WCS also partners with Los Angeles-based libraries, colleges, and professional sports teams to celebrate LGBTQ+ diversity and promote community acceptance.
