Organization Summary

SF Art & Film (SFAF) was founded in 1993 by award-winning artist/filmmaker Ronald Chase to address the diminishing presence of the arts and humanities in schools by giving students the chance to engage in the region’s vibrant arts community. Our year-round programs include: the Teen Film Workshop, a filmmaking intensive; Cine Club, which offers free screenings of classic, foreign, and art films, followed by comprehensive discussions; Art Saturdays, a twice-monthly program pairing youth with artist-mentors to see and critique visual arts and film at museums, galleries, and theaters; and Free Tickets to Performances, which offers youth access to a range of arts experiences, including symphony, opera, and theater performances at local institutions. Each year we serve over 500 youth aged 8-20 (totaling 4,500 attendances) from roughly 45 local schools. Since our founding we have served over 10,000 students and distributed nearly 20,000 free tickets to performances.
