Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, Arts Action Academy will facilitate a video project documenting stories of youth, families, and school staff during COVID times. This youth-led project aims to impact the future of our local education system by highlighting stories and creatively addressing inequities and needs of students.

Organization Summary

Academy of BLAH (Business, Leadership, Arts & Humanities)- High School Alternative
Urban Arts for Change- Weekly, Empowering Workshops in the Juvenile Hall, taught by Artists from Around the World and also people who have overcome adversity
Writing & Reciting- Weekly, Writing Workshop, Discussion or Inspirational Talk, different Artist Teacher each week
Growing Peace Camp- Week Long Camp for youth 5-18, scholarships available , so no child is turned away due to inability to pay, this camp is taught by 20+ Artist Educators and Promoters of Peace in our Community

Auburn’s Annual Martin Luther King Junior Celebration- We have inherited the torch of the long-standing MLK event in Auburn and have been facilitating the event for the last 5 years
Some Kind of Earth Day Festival- This is an annual interactive, educational music and arts festival, we skipped last year due to COVID but are going to try to do online this year
Be the Change Talent Showcase- Partnering with other community groups we host an annual Be the Change Event with cash prizes for youth whose ideas to Be the Change are expresses Musically and Artistically
