With support from the California Arts Council, Lenora Lee Dance will create and present “In the Movement” 6 outdoor performances and dialogues, shared live on Alcatraz Island and virtually online September 2022. It will focus on the separation of families and mass detention of immigrants as a form of incarceration.
Lenora Lee Dance has served over 175,000 through: 1) An annual performance season featuring world premieres of its work. 2) Local performances. 3) Touring. 4) Civic engagement programs – workshops, residencies, lectures, panels. 5) Museum and Gallery installations. 6) Films.
It integrates contemporary dance, film, music, text, and research, and weaves together multiple artistic disciplines. It strives to generate artistic work that engages deeply the connections between individuals, community and collective memory, through creative processes, research, and public involvement.
