With support from the California Arts Council, Hernandez Mariachi Heritage Society will continue its music instructional program at Magnolia Elementary School, which is in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The music program is a standard’s and curriculum-based mariachi instruction program, which adheres to California State standards for performing arts instruction. Instruction consists of a minimum of three classes per week, two hours per class, provided during the instructional day.
The core programs of the Mariachi Heritage Society are: 1) mariachi instruction in the schools and 2) production of the annual mariachi summer institute known as the Mariachi Nationals.
