With the support of the California Arts Council, Capital Dance Project (CDP) will offer individuals of all ages with autism, or other sensory related disabilities, and their families, unprecedented access to dance. CDP will offer a series of sensory friendly dance classes and performances taught and produced by professional ballet dancers, affording this historically marginalized community access to live dance experiences in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
Sensory Friendly Dance (SFD) invites everyone, especially individuals with autism and their families, to experience the power of dance! SFD’s offer individuals of all ages with autism the ability to express themselves in judgement-free dance classes, benefit from the physicality of dance, and socialize in a nurturing and sensory sensitive classroom environment. Similarly, SFD’s performances open their doors to everyone in the community by relaxing traditional theater rules, cultivating an accepting environment, and by providing an inclusive space for families to engage in shared live art experiences with each other.
