With the support from the California Arts Council, Lenora Lee Dance will develop “Convergent Waves” a multimedia dance piece generated from a series of community engagement activities and research in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district with residents from Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC) locations in the neighborhood. This program will culminate in the creation and presentation of a multimedia dance work that will premiere in two performances May 20, 2021 at the Asian Art Museum.
Lenora Lee Dance has served over 175,000 through: 1) An annual performance season featuring world premieres of its work. 2) Local performances. 3) Touring. 4) Civic engagement programs – workshops, residencies, lectures, panels. 5) Museum and Gallery installations. 6) Films.
It integrates contemporary dance, film, music, text, and research, and weaves together multiple artistic disciplines. It strives to generate artistic work that engages deeply the connections between individuals, community and collective memory, through creative processes, research, and public involvement.
