With support from the California Arts Council, EBONY REPERTORY THEATRE INC’s Dance@theHolden will present three (3) weeks of dance at one of Los Angeles’ premiere locations for dance, the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, located in the mid-city of Los Angeles. This dance series will create a home for local dance companies and dancers to bring high-standard, professional dance to LA’s under-served, mid-city community.
Ebony Repertory Theatre (ERT) is Los Angeles’ only African American professional (Actor’s Equity Contract) theatre company and the Resident Company/Operator of the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. ERT’s core programs and services are the production and presentation of theatre, dance, music, and speakers. We have presented and received numerous awards for our theatre productions of August Wilson’s “Two Trains Running,” Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin In The Sun,” Lee Breuer and Bob Telson’s “Gospel at Colonus,” and Clarke Peters’ “Five Guys Named Moe.” Dance@thHolden has presented Garth Fagan Dance, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Flamenco de Muerto, Versastyle, JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble, and Viver Brazil, to name a few, and our music concerts have included Dianne Reeves, Ahmad Jahmal, Terry Steele (Luther Vandross), and Dorian Holley (Marvin Gaye). Such noted African American leaders and history makers as Dr. Cornell West, Dr. Keith Black, Bernard Kinsey, and others have graced our stage.
