With support from the California Arts Council, REEL STORIES will develop our Future of Filmmaking Program, a leadership program for 15-18 year-old Reel Stories alumni. Participants will grow their technical, creative, and professional skills through the creation of a short film, exposure to professional film settings, and mentorship. During the 9-month program, female, trans, non-binary and gender-non-conforming participants will be challenged and supported as burgeoning filmmakers and leaders.
Through summer programs, after school programs and weekend workshops Reel Stories trains the next generation of female filmmakers. Reel Stories is the only girls’ media camp in the United States taught by top media professionals. Young women receive hands-on workshops with professional technology. This not only enhances their craft but gives them insight into the plethora of career options in the film, television and media industries.
Reel Stories programs are designed to give campers the experience of real-world filmmaking. Every activity has a carefully designed curriculum which provides technical skills, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, media literacy, and professional mentoring. Each program culminates in a short film that is ready for distribution
