Melody of China will conduct its Chinese music class at Sunset Elementary School for participating students, grades 2 – 5. Students will learn how to play a Chinese instrument of their choice. Instruments offered include: erhu (2-string bowed fiddle), yangqin (hammered dulcimer), guzheng (zither), sheng (mouth organ), dizi (bamboo flute), ruan (moon guitar), and paigu (drums). The 20-week program will culminate with a recital for friends and family.
Melody of China conducts performances, classes and lectures on traditional Chinese instruments including: yangqin (hammered dulcimer), guzheng (zither), sheng (mouth organ), pipa (lute), dizi (bamboo flute), erhu (2-string fiddle), and others. Melody of China also presents performances of newly commissioned works with contemporary composers and performers.
