With support from CAC, the Deputy Sheriffs’ Activities League (DSAL) will provide Rhythm Cadets Pathway (RCP) at the Juvenile Justice Center in San Leandro, CA. RCP is a bridge to DSAL’s Rhythm Cadets Drumline, a marching musical education program that teaches respect, leadership, discipline, responsibility and teamwork through the use of rhythm and drumming, and can even be a career pathway. Funds will be used for instruction in music/percussion theory and marching drumming technique.
DSAL was founded as a traditional activities league in 2004, when there were alarmingly few positive options for recreation or activities for Eden-area kids after school. As we connected with youth and families, we realized the need to address deeper issues, like unemployment, lack of investment in the unincorporated areas, and social and political disconnection, and we began to broaden our scope to include community-led economic empowerment initiatives, education and leadership programs, and creative placemaking. Our core programs and services include:

*Boxing
*Basketball
*Fitness
*Dance
*Drumline
