With support from the California Arts Council, William James Association’s TeamWorks Art Mentoring Program will help equalize access to visual arts education in Marin County with in- and out-of-school, community-based, socially-engaged artistic practices, at no cost for juvenile justice system engaged youth, youth at high risk of gang recruitment and youth seeking an alternative path to high school graduation.
Prison Arts Project hires artists to provide in-depth, long-term arts experiences in prisons & jails. Meaningful arts experiences prepare participants to successfully return to society, reconnect w families, gain social & communication skills & opportunities to give back thru the arts. Community Youth Arts Project (in Santa Cruz County) and TeamWorks Art Mentoring Program (in Marin County) provide arts intervention for high-risk, under-served and disenfranchised youth in Juvenile Hall and Alternative schools to promote creative expression, self-discipline, and community engagement. Unlocking hearts and minds with bold, original theater, Poetic Justice Project is dedicated to presenting theater that examines crime, punishment & redemption. WJA’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program assists emerging nonprofit groups and community organizations by providing grant-related admin. support, tax-exempt status & fiscal sponsorship.
