With support from the California Arts Council, Friends Outside in Los Angeles County (FOLA) will continue their collaboration with TheatreWorkers Project by providing opportunities for reentering adults to redefine their personal narratives through theatre, movement and writing and through expanded opportunities for participation in Project Re/Frame, a theatre company dedicated to the creation and performance of pieces based on the writing and stories of those impacted by mass incarceration.
Friends Outside in Los Angeles County’s programs and services include after-school groups, employment assistance, fatherhood services, counseling/support groups, case management/peer navigation, family communications support, linkages, emergency supplies, and alternative sentencing. Services are provided from community-and jail-based offices across Los Angeles County, including in Pasadena, Los Angeles, Inglewood, and Watts. Service sites include locations such as an elementary school, a community college, a faith-based location, and co-locations in two of America’s Job Centers of California.
