Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, 826LA will offer its free Write On! creative writing summer camp to approximately 100 Los Angeles elementary school students who are classified as English language earners. Each session features activities and writing curriculum designed around themes including STEM, nature, and the arts. Students work with trained volunteers to strengthen verbal and writing skills, combating summer learning loss and preparing for a successful school year.
Organization Summary
We provide after-school tutoring, evening and weekend workshops, in-school tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications. All of our programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student’s power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in their individual voice.
