With support from the California Arts Council, Oceanside Museum of Art will provide three, one-week Summer Art Camps for up to 60 children enrolled in grades 1–6 in Oceanside Unified School District. A week at OMA camp is more than art making. It’s about community building, celebrating individuals, seeing from new perspectives and coming together as a group on collaborative projects that teach communication, flexibility, and empathy. Campers leave with a deeper sense of self and belonging.
Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) is a cultural anchor for North County San Diego, offering a robust year-round slate of exhibitions, events, and award-winning educational programs that reflect and serve the region’s diverse community.
OMA presents 10–15 exhibitions annually, showcasing emerging and established Southern California artists. These exhibitions champion alternative definitions of culture and provide critical visibility for living regional artists. In 2023, OMA was twice featured in The New York Times as a must-visit destination for Southern California art and was named a 2024 Best Museum by Ranch & Coast Magazine.
OMA’s educational offerings are deeply rooted in community engagement and have a significant academic impact. Two signature, award-winning programs developed in collaboration with the Oceanside Unified School District reach every 3rd- and 5th-grade student districtwide.
Literacy Through Art (LTA) integrates visual art and the Oceanside Public Library’s culturally relevant literature to boost reading fluency and comprehension.
ArtQuest (AQ) fuses scientific inquiry and the arts to spark curiosity and creativity through hands-on, STEAM-aligned learning.
Other programs include:
Art for All – A welcoming, community-centered program offering intergenerational, hands-on artmaking experiences led by local artists and cultural partners. Held on Free First Sundays, these events foster creativity, connection, and joy for all ages.
Street Level x Art Walk – A lively, all-ages music and arts series held on Free First Fridays, featuring performances by diverse local musicians and showcasing artists and craftspeople from across the region. Includes free museum admission and a festive, inclusive atmosphere.
The Oceanside Plein Air Festival – A biennial celebration of outdoor painting that brings together 225+ artists and thousands of visitors.
Education and Public Programs, including hands-on workshops, adult art classes, and guided school tours.
Through these programs, OMA nurtures creativity, fosters lifelong learning, and elevates Oceanside as a dynamic coastal destination for arts and culture.
