With support from the California Arts Council the Stockton Arts Commission will expand Stockton Arts Week, showcasing the diversity of local artists to expand the arts and improve the City’s downtown. Fifty free events will occur at multiple City locations and culminate on October 19 in the Collide Festival where artists teach workshops and attendees display or perform the work they create. Funds will be used for two years of programming $30K each year with $30K in matching City funds.
The Stockton Arts Commission offers two core grant programs. The Stockton Arts Enhancement Grants annually awards $50,000 to local artists in support of their work. In addition, the Public Art Enhancement Grant program annually awards $50,000 to local public artists to commission works for the City. The program especially encourages new public artists to apply in order to gain experience with smaller projects to build a portfolio. The Commission also hosts an annual art festival and a biennial arts awards program
