With support from the California Arts Council, Malashock Dance will provide MATH IN MOTION, an inclusive dance residency program that teaches students dance technique and choreography, using mathematical concepts as thematic tools. The curriculum integrates grade-level state standards in dance and the National Common Core habits of mind and standards in mathematics. Over 4,000 K-8 students in six schools receive 12 to 14 sequential lessons, taught by professional teaching artists.
MALASHOCK DANCE COMPANY: Since 1988 the Company has self produced, toured, and completed commissioned work in partnership with other professional Companies.
MALASHOCK DANCE EDUCATION: The organization runs a school in San Diego, CA, provides community education programs including arts-integration, assemblies, residencies, student performances in schools, and presents educational opportunities in many diverse communities in the San Diego region.
MALASHOCK DANCE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: In response to the needs of our community, Malashock Dance provides peer to peer learning groups, mentorship, apprenticeships, internships, trainings, and creative labs/open studio space for artists to exchange, grow, and develop their career at any stage.
