Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, City Hearts: Kids Say Yes to the Arts will offer FRESH FOCUS: a direct learning, culturally relevant, literacy based Photography course. Beginning & Advanced classes will be held 2x/week over the school year at Emerson and Roosevelt Elementary, and Whaley Middle Schools, Title 1 schools in Compton, CA. Taught by faculty member/professional photographer Brian Nieman, trained in the VAPA standards, program will serve 40, 3rd–8th grade students.
Organization Summary
City Hearts offers year-round, weekly in-school and afterschool arts programs in Dance, Guitar & Songwriting, Acting, Drawing & Mixed Media Arts, Photography, and 2D Design & Printmaking. These classes are held on the campuses of Title I schools and at local community resource centers, all at no cost to students and their families.
