Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, Melody of China, Inc. will conduct its Chinese music class at Sunset Elementary School. Serving grades 2 – 5, students will have the opportunity to learn how to play a Chinese instrument of their choice, including: yangqin (hammered dulicmer), guzheng (zither), erhu (2-string bowed fiddle), ruan (moon guitar), dizi (bamboo flute), pipa (lute) and paigu (drums). The program will culminate in a musical performance for parents.
Organization Summary
Melody of China conducts performances, classes and lectures on traditional Chinese instruments including: yangqin (hammered dulcimer), guzheng (zither), sheng (mouth organ), pipa (lute), dizi (bamboo flute), erhu (2-string fiddle), and others. Melody of China also presents performances of newly commissioned works with contemporary composers and performers.
