With support from the California Arts Council, the Fresno Philharmonic will present the Link Up Music Education program, developed by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, to over 11,500 students (74% of whom attend Title I elementary schools) during the 2018-2019 school year. The program provides students in grades 3-5 with a high quality, standards-based curriculum for recorder and voice and prepares them to perform with the Fresno Philharmonic in one of six interactive culminating concerts.
The Fresno Philharmonic, now in its 70th season, is the Central San Joaquin Valley’s professional symphony orchestra, presenting live musical experiences to more than 20,000 people each year. The Fresno Philharmonic’s Masterworks series presents classical symphonic repertoire as well as exciting new works by living composers. The Fresno Philharmonic’s pops concerts present orchestral arrangements of music from a wide variety of genres and eras often with leading headline stars from the worlds of Broadway, film, jazz and entertainment. Additionally, the Fresno Philharmonic is committed to fostering the next generation of musicians and music-lovers, and to improving the quality of life in the Central Valley through music education programs which reach more than 6,000 students annually.
