With support from the California Arts Council, Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County (BGCSCC) will offer 60 underserved children and teenagers (ages 8-15) no- or low-cost interactive summer art classes that explore large-scale art installations. Designed to enhance the success of our 2017 Summer Teen Art Program (funded in part by the California Arts Council), this year’s project builds on previous participant and project success and expands the project to include younger members.
We provide safe places filled with enriching programs and caring adult mentors who actively foster a sense of belonging and connection to ensure that our youth feel supported and valued. Our programs focus on academics, recreation, art, music, career exploration, health/wellness, and character development for youth ages 6-18. Our downtown Santa Cruz, Live Oak, and Scotts Valley Clubhouses are open five days-a-week after school, on many holidays, and during the summer months when kids need a safe, fun and positive place to go. In addition, we host summer and holiday day camps and offer a wide range of special interest programs that include art, music, swim lessons, a basketball league and a surf club.
